Tattooed Mom

Tattooed Mom is a one of a kind restaurant. If you judged the restaurant only based on the first floor, you would think it’s just a quirky restaurant with a fun bar. However, once you go upstairs you will soon realize that you’re in store for so much more. The walls are filled with graffiti, stickers, and drawings. There’s a pool table, funky lights, and people dancing and having a good time. Back on the first floor, each table had toys and candy on it, so you get to have a little fun and feel like a kid again while you wait for your food to arrive. Despite the fact that Tattooed Mom is not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant, you can go there as a vegan and feel like it is because of how vegan friendly their menu is. They offer a wide variety of vegan options, and they even do Meatless Mondays. On Mondays, from noon to 10 PM, their veggie menu is half off!

As an appetizer my boyfriend ordered the Vegan Cheesy Fries. When he received them they were very cold, so he asked for it to be warmed up. Instead, the waitress offered to make a fresh batch. The second time around they were given to him at room temperature. Maybe that’s how they are meant to be served?

However, I can’t imagine any type of fries, much less cheesy fries that are meant to be eaten cold. We could tell that if they were served hot, they would have been very tasty.

After having a less than enjoyable experience with the fries, we were ready to dive into our sandwiches with the hopes that the night would be redeemed. The Vegan Chubsteak Wrap was perfect from start to finish. The wrap itself was toasted to perfection. It was light, flaky and crisp. The caramelized onions added a nice crunch which complimented the softness of the melted cheese well. Also, the “meat’ was not too chewy. If I was given this sandwich blind folded I would have never known that it’s a vegan sandwich. So if you’re a vegan that misses the taste and feel of meat, the chubsteak wrap is for you.

I was already half way through the wrap and I was starting to feel full. What I enjoyed the most was how neatly wrapped it was. Despite the fact that the wrap was stuffed with a lot of contents, no matter how I bit into it, it did not fall a part and none of the contents fell out. The Vegan Blackened Chick’n Sandwich did not disappoint either. In between two soft buns was a thick slice of vegan chick’n that was perfectly charred, along with tomato, lettuce, red onions and vegan cheese. After eating all of that food, I was just glad that it was all vegan. No bloating, no upset stomach, and no “itis”.

Tattooed Mom had the most relaxed atmosphere that I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant thus far. I’ve been doing this Cavell’s Cuisine stuff for a little minute and this experience was definitely a first.
