Nice N Natural- Carle Place
I was determined to add more Long Island restaurants to my list, so I decided to scout Google for vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the area. I came across Nice N Natural, which is a health food store in Carle Place. They also have another location not too far away in Mineola. On the rare occasions that I’m shopping at the mall, Roosevelt Field Mall that is, I have realized that I no longer find myself interested in the food availability. Besides Maoz, there really isn’t much there for me. Also, after getting older and growing tired of the restaurants in the food court, it was refreshing to find something healthy close by.
Nice N Natural aims to treat their customers like friends and family, and I definitely felt that way upon entering the store. The staff were friendly and polite, and they took the time to answer any questions that I had. At Nice N Natural you can expect your food and juices to be made with organic produce and alkaline water. Also, they use biodegradable cups, bags, and straws. This health food store offers juices, smoothies, sandwiches, baked goods, and more. Not only do they sell food and juices, but they also offer health focused groceries and products, such as vitamins, supplements, energy bars, personal care products, and protein powders.
The smoothies at Nice N Natural are made to order and they do not contain any dairy, artificial sweeteners or syrups, preservatives, or pre-mixes. The Pink Lady smoothie consisted of pineapple, apple, strawberry, and pomegranate. It was sweet, thick, and refreshing. This is the perfect smoothie for a hot day or whenever you’re looking to brighten up your meal. The Deep Detox, which consisted of celery, cucumber, flax oil, ginger, kale, lemon, parsley, and spinach, is serious business. This juice is packed with powerful greens that will provide your body with the cleanse it needs while boosting your vitamin levels.
Nice N Natural is the ideal spot to grab lunch or a quick bite. There is minimal seating available, so I would recommend you to take your food to go. All of the food options at this store are pre-prepared, this includes burgers, salads, sandwiches and wraps. I personally don’t mind pre-prepared salads or sandwiches, but I do prefer freshly made burgers. So I don’t think I’ll be trying the burgers here anytime soon.
The Veganwich sandwich is made with sprouted barley bread, which isn’t as soft as most breads. I’m warning you so that you’re not taken by surprise when you bite into the sandwich and it’s not soft and fluffy. This sandwich is not bursting with flavor because there is no sauce, seasoning, or meat substitute in there, just strictly veggies. Nonetheless, it was still satisfying. The Veganwich is great for those who are looking for a light and healthy lunch, and those who don’t mind a no-frills sandwich.
The Garden Salad was very tasty, well tossed, and the vegetables were fresh and crunchy. It is served with a balsamic vinegar dressing on the side. This salad had the right portions of red and green sweet peppers, celery, shredded carrot, purple cabbage, spinach, lettuce, cucumber, and sprouts. Don’t let the container fool you! It was the perfect amount for lunch. I was able to complete my meal and be full without having any food leftover.
I look forward to going to Nice N Natural again and trying more of their smoothies and juices!
