Sweet & Savory Cafe
Who would’ve thought that after all of these years of travelling to Brooklyn and Manhattan for vegan/vegetarian restaurants, that there we so many great ones here in Long Island all along. I always get excited whenever I find a new place to grab something to eat in Long Island because it makes the days that I don’t bring lunch to work less stressful. I’m no longer concerned about where or how I’m going to find a restaurant that offers something for me.
Sweet & Savory Cafe is a family owned cafe that prides itself on providing a fun but relaxing space to enjoy great food and a delicious cup of coffee. This cafe is located on Merrick Ave in Baldwin, right off Grand Ave. Their ever-changing seasonal menu consist of classic breakfast meals, such as avocado toast and breakfast bowls, and you can also find salads, panini, and various treats here too. Sweet & Savory Cafe’s menu also offers options for vegans and vegetarians; so everyone is welcomed. Since their menu changes seasonally, I would recommend that you visit their Facebook page or stop by the cafe to get the updated menu.
The So Cali panini consisted of lettuce, tomato, onions, avocado, and tempeh bacon. It was light and full of flavor. The So Cali panini is the ideal sandwich for a light lunch. Honestly, I was still a bit hungry and felt like I could do well with another sandwich. However, that was only because I didn’t have breakfast before I went. If you’re not a big eater than this will be the perfect size for you.
Since I was still a bit hungry, I decided to see what type of treats they had available. The only vegan option available that day were the scones. I went with the chocolate chip flavor and I was a bit nervous to try it because this was my first time eating a scone, so I had no idea what to expect. The outside was crunchy and the inside was surprisingly soft and sweet.
I’m looking forward to visiting Sweet & Savory Cafe again. I have my eyes on their avocado toast and their Saturday brunch.
