LuAnne's Wild Ginger

Luanne’s Wild Ginger has three Brooklyn locations and one Manhattan location. I decided to stop by their location on Dekalb Ave in Brooklyn. Once you step inside the restaurant you feel as if you’ve entered a whole other world. With the closing of the door, the sounds from outside completely diminish, and the windows of the restaurant are tinted, blocking out any onlookers. The restaurant was completely empty when I went, so I had the pleasure of enjoying a peaceful meal with my boyfriend.
I ordered the sweet & sour sesame soy, while Joseph had the general t’soy protein. The sweet & sour sesame soy consisted of broccoli, cauliflower, pineapple and bell peppers, with breaded soy protein covered in sweet & sour sauce sitting on top of the veggies. While the general t’soy protein had thick slices of breaded, deep-fried soy protein covered in a sweet and spicy sauce, on top of a bed of broccoli. Both dishes were served with miso soup and jasmine rice.
Luanne’s Wild Ginger is a charming vegan restaurant that I imagine to be a breath of fresh air for the residents of Flatbush. I can only imagine how great it is to have a vegan spot serving tasty, healthy food close to your residence. Especially when you’re used to junk food being the only option within walking distance from your home.
